Hotel Casa Cuenca
Mid-century Mexican modernism meets artisanal boutique. Pale brick, gleaming tile, earthy tones with pops of color. Quiet and sanctuary-like — not flashy, not elitist.
Book the Presidencial if budget allows — it overlooks the main patio and the guayabo jápones and is genuinely worth the upgrade
Why It Matters
Architect Iván Esqueda transformed a genuine 1930s Condesa mansion into one of the neighborhood's tightest boutique hotels. The interiors pay direct homage to 1950s Mexican design movements, and Maleza — the farm-to-table bistro on-site — was named one of Time Out's best restaurant openings of 2025. This is a hotel with a real point of view.
Casa Cuenca is a 10-room boutique hotel inside a converted 1930s mansion in Colonia Condesa. Architect Iván Esqueda did the structural work; the interiors draw from 1950s Mexican modernism — custom built-ins, handmade tiles, woven rugs, and original artwork throughout. The result feels residential and calm without being precious, anchored by a sun-drenched courtyard and Maleza, the in-house restaurant that has become its own destination.
