Why It Matters

The most design-forward hotel in San Cristóbal de las Casas — a city otherwise dominated by colonial guesthouses. Michelin-recognized. Restaurant LUM (Cocina Bo) is genuinely considered one of the best tables in town, with Executive Chef Víctor Hugo Olivera drawing top Mexican chefs as collaborators. Strong social responsibility program through Grupo-Bo, supporting indigenous communities and environmental conservation in Chiapas.

Hotel Bo is a 22-room design boutique hotel in the historic Barrio de Mexicanos, right in the center of San Cristóbal de las Casas. The aesthetic is a striking mix: Scandinavian-influenced clean lines and neutral palettes collide head-on with vivid Chiapaneco textiles, hand-crafted local woodwork, and Venetian mosaic bathrooms. The name itself comes from the indigenous word for water — one of four elements (water, fire, earth, air) the whole place is built around, from the courtyard pool and water features to the fireplaces in select suites.

Probably the most immersive of the garden suites. The water mirrors and exterior gardens connect it all together. Etro amenities; some sources also cite Molton Brown.
