Hotel Belvedere Grindelwald
Contemporary alpine country house. Modern interiors with parquet floors, warm wood touches, and a fireplace lounge called the Stuba. Not minimalist — more like a well-loved family home that's been seriously upgraded. The bar has billiards, the outdoor Jacuzzi faces the Eiger, and there's a cozy repurposed gondola out back for cheese fondue.
Always request an Eiger-facing room (south side) — the Eiger wall at sunrise is genuinely something else compared to the perfectly fine north/garden side
Why It Matters
Two things really set this place apart. First: the Michelin-starred restaurant «1910 · Gourmet by Hausers» — one star since 2023, six tables built around an original 1910 stove, a 6+ course menu at CHF 190. Second: the outdoor saltwater Jacuzzi in the garden, angled directly at the Eiger. The four-generation family ownership gives the whole stay a genuinely personal quality — you will likely meet Carole or Philip during your visit.
The Belvedere has been in the Hauser family's hands since 1904, now run by fourth-generation hoteliers Carole and Philip. Every south-facing room looks straight at the Eiger's north face — that view never really gets old. Five minutes on foot from the village center and the train station, the hotel sits close enough to everything but set back enough to feel genuinely quiet.
