Why It Matters
One of the only places to actually sleep inside a historic château in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation — surrounded by the vineyards that produce France's most famous wines. Views span from the Palais des Papes in Avignon to Mont Ventoux. The restaurant is genuinely serious, Michelin-listed and helmed by Escoffier disciple Chef Hugo Loridan-Fombonne. Only 11 rooms means it rarely feels crowded.
A 19th-century neoclassical château perched above the most celebrated vineyards in France. Built on a hilltop as a fantasy in stone — part medieval, part Provençal — the Château des Fines Roches was once home to the Marquis de Baroncelli and became a gathering spot for Provençal poets. Today it runs as a 4-star, 11-room hotel where every room looks out over vines, and the wine list runs to 800 bottles from 50+ Châteauneuf-du-Pape estates. Think canopy beds, stone walls, a fireplace lounge, and one of the best views in Provence.

One of two junior suites in the château. Junior suites offer more space and elevated features compared to the standard and charm categories, in keeping with the château's theatrical Provençal-medieval aesthetic.
Annabelle — Room 10
A privilege-tier double room, step above charm, with enhanced features. In this category expect the signature canopy beds, refined Provençal décor, and potentially access to the panoramic terrace via the iconic spiral staircase.
Baroncelli — Room 1
The most medieval room in the château — stone walls, a large working chimney, and an Italian shower rather than a bathtub. Views look out over the swimming pool and the estate. Named after the Marquis de Baroncelli who once called this château home.

Estelle — Room 7
One of the charm-category rooms with individual character. Some charm rooms have private terraces with direct views over the estates and vineyards.
Fanny — Room 6
The second junior suite in the property. More generous in space than the charm doubles, with elevated furnishings and the château's characteristic stone-and-canopy aesthetic.
Gladys — Room 9
The entry-level classic room — still fully equipped with AC, WiFi, minibar and flat screen TV. The starting point for experiencing the château, and still comes with that vineyard view from every window.
Magali — Room 8
A deluxe double with the full suite of modern amenities and Provençal castle character. Rooms in this tier typically feature more refined finishes and potentially elevated vineyard or mountain views.
Manon — Room 4
A charm-category double with the castle's signature personality. Each charm room has its own distinct look — some feature access to the panoramic terrace via spiral staircase, others have bathrooms tucked into turrets.
Mireille — Room 5
Named after the Provençal literary heroine by Frédéric Mistral, this charm room carries the castle's Provençal character. Standard charm amenities with the signature four-poster canopy bed.
Mistral — Room 2
Named for the Provençal wind and poet Frédéric Mistral, one of the deluxe-category rooms with Provençal-inspired décor. All deluxe rooms feature modern amenities alongside the château's signature canopy beds.
Victoria — Room 11
The third deluxe double, completing the château's range. All 11 rooms face the vineyards, and orientation in the deluxe tier offers views south toward the Alpilles and Avignon, or north toward Mont Ventoux and the Lubéron.

Guided or self-guided walking routes through the vineyards and into the village of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The castle manager Sébastien Gutierrez is known to provide detailed route advice and local tips.
