Why It Matters
One Michelin Key (2025), the only cave hotel recognition in the Ortahisar area. Originally an old Orthodox Greek house; each of the 19 rooms is unique — no two are laid out the same. The Superior Suites have full Turkish hammam-style bathrooms that guests consistently rave about.
Hezen Cave Hotel started in 2011 when the owners took 8 ancient rock-carved houses in the hillside village of Ortahisar and turned them into 19 cave rooms and suites. It earned a Michelin Key in 2025. Ortahisar sits a few kilometers from the Göreme tourist circus, so the surroundings are genuinely quiet — dusty cobbled streets, a dramatically tall rock citadel, and no bar crawl noise. Turkish designer Halide Didem handled the interiors, which means vivid color pops (turquoise doors, yellow closets, red mirror frames) against pale sandstone walls — more design-forward than typical Cappadocian cave hotels.

Standard Cave Room
The entry-level option — and still a proper cave room carved into the hillside. At 15–25 sqm, these are compact but not claustrophobic. Each one has its own character: you might get green window frames or a glossy red bedstead. Colorful embroidered cushions, goose-down duvets, marble shower bathroom. Some have a small seating area. No minibar in standard rooms.
Queen or twin beds · 20 sqmSuite Cave Room
A step up to 40 sqm with a separate living area — minibar, TV, and room to actually sit down somewhere other than the bed. Queen-size bed, marble shower bathroom. The colorful design language continues: expect bold accent pieces against pale stone walls. Good middle-ground option for couples who want a bit more space without going full hammam-suite.

The flagship room for couples: 70–90 sqm of cave space with a king bed, a generous separate living area, and a full Turkish hammam-style bathroom. Decorated in a lighter, more contemporary palette than the standard rooms — dark accents against stone walls in some units. Overlooks the common garden with castle views. Multiple guests have singled out the shower/hammam as the size of a small apartment.

Superior Family Suite
The largest configuration at 100 sqm — two full bedrooms (king plus two singles), a separate living room with TV and minibar, and a hammam-style bathroom. The suite is positioned separately from the rest of the property and opens directly to a private patio or garden with its own seating area and terrace. Designed for families of four, though couples have stayed here too for the sheer space.
