Heritage Madrid
Belle Époque antiques-forward luxury. Think porcelain lamps, art deco bureaus, parquet floors, and minibars stocked with wine and champagne. Quiet and residential rather than grand-lobby flashy. More private club than grand palace.

Why It Matters
A Relais & Châteaux property and sister hotel to the celebrated Hotel Orfila, with interiors by star decorator Lorenzo Castillo and a restaurant overseen by two-Michelin-star chef Mario Sandoval. The building itself is listed and protected as architectural heritage by the Commission for the Protection of Historical, Artistic and Natural Heritage.
Heritage Madrid occupies a protected early-20th-century Belle Époque townhouse in the upscale Salamanca district — one of the quieter, more residential parts of the city. The interior was entirely designed by Lorenzo Castillo (AD Award for Best Decorator 2014), who layered lacquered wood, polychrome marble, velvet, and hand-painted wallpaper with a serious collection of 18th- and 19th-century European antiques. The restaurant is run by two-Michelin-star chef Mario Sandoval, which is a genuine draw well beyond the 46 guest rooms.
