The Karlo VI Imperial Tower Suite (100 sqm across the castle's top two tower floors) has the best panoramic view over Maslinica — you look down on the entire harbor and bay.
Why It Matters
The only hotel on the island of Šolta — a real, year-round Dalmatian island, not a day-trip destination. The Marchi family received permission from the Republic of Venice in 1703 to build the castle and colonize the island. Today their fortress holds nine named suites, an award-winning marina directly in front of the castle, and a genuinely excellent restaurant. The hotel also has its own heliport.
A Baroque castle built in 1708 by the noble Marchi family — and still the only hotel on the island of Šolta. Nine individually-designed suites spread across 1,500 square meters of restored stone walls, vaulted ceilings, and antique furniture sourced from Paris, London, Vienna, Venice, and Zagreb. You arrive by fast yacht from Split in about 40 minutes, step into a private courtyard, and the world gets very quiet very quickly. The attached marina won Croatia's Best Small Marina award in both 2018 and 2022.

The top suite in the house — 100 sqm spread across the two uppermost floors of the original castle tower. A luxury bedroom, two bathrooms (bathtub and walk-in shower cabin), and a separate guest WC. The views from up here — sea on one side, pool and village on the other — are the best at the property. Named for Karl VI, the last male Habsburg, with whom castle founder Ivan Petar Marchi was closely aligned. Sleeps two.

A private or group painting session led by a local Šolta artist, available at the hotel or in the painter's studio. Suitable for total beginners through experienced painters. Can be arranged for two guests or a larger group. Available on request.

Bike rental and guided cycling tours across Šolta, which is 19 km long and only 4.5 km wide — ideal for cycling. Routes pass through olive groves, stone villages (Grohote, Srednje Selo, Donje Selo), vineyards, and coastal viewpoints. E-bikes available. Optional farmhouse lunch stop.
A tailor-made full or half-day island tour by car, van, quad, or bike. Stops include a Šolta olive oil estate, a three-generation family honey farm, vineyards with private wine tasting, and the studio of celebrated local painter Vicko Buktenica.
