Harmon Guest House
Modern organic, eco-conscious, art-forward. Slatted redwood exterior, polished concrete floors, textured walls, custom Fireclay tiles, and locally-sourced art. Mr & Mrs Smith nails it: 'eco-kind cool'. Not fussy, not rustic-fake-Tuscan. Just clean California modernism with a genuine sense of place.

Why It Matters
One of the rare Sonoma wine country hotels that actually looks like it belongs in 21st-century California. Designed by David Baker Architects with 'modern organic' principles — a slatted redwood facade reduces solar heat gain, a rainwater harvesting system handles irrigation, and a solar thermal system heats water. It's also a Design Hotels and Marriott Bonvoy member, and it sits a two-minute walk from the Healdsburg Plaza with some of Northern California's best restaurants (including Michelin-starred SingleThread) within a five-minute stroll.
Harmon Guest House is a 39-room, ultra-modern boutique hotel in downtown Healdsburg, designed by San Francisco architect David Baker and opened in September 2018. It's part of the Piazza Hospitality family alongside Hotel Healdsburg and h2hotel, connected to the latter via a private walkway. The hotel takes its name from Healdsburg founder Harmon Heald, and the building reflects that heritage through community-focused design: a transparent lobby anchored by a check-in desk carved from a single fallen eucalyptus tree, art by local NorCal artists throughout, and a private creekside park.
