Hôtel Les Deux Gares
Maximalist boutique, Art Deco-meets-retro bohemian. Think: a Parisian collector's home crossed with a Wes Anderson set. Bold color in every room, no toning it down at the bedroom door.
Book a Superior Balcony Room for private outdoor space overlooking the tracks — it's the same 19m² as a standard Superior but with a terrace
Why It Matters
The first hotel project by London artist and designer Luke Edward Hall, and the calling card that launched his interiors career. Named to the 2021 Condé Nast Traveler Hot List. Part of the Touriste group (the same people behind Hôtel Panache and Hôtel Bienvenue), with Diptyque toiletries throughout.
Squeezed between Gare de l'Est and Gare du Nord on a narrow side street in the 10th arrondissement, Les Deux Gares is the kind of place design obsessives make special trips for. English artist Luke Edward Hall threw out every rule of restrained hotel design — the lobby has Toile de Jouy wallpaper, a leopard-print sofa, and Paolo Buffa armchairs, and the 38 rooms keep the energy going with avocado-toned bathrooms, ebonised gilt furniture, and 1970s-style geometric carpets woven in England. And Hall himself admits the look is 'a little bonkers' — that's exactly what makes it worth staying.
