Hôtel Lancaster Paris
Historic Parisian townhouse — parquet floors, marble fireplaces, antique oil paintings and Baccarat crystal chandeliers alongside Studio Jean Philippe Nuel's contemporary touches. Feels residential and discreet rather than grand and showy.

Why It Matters
One of the few genuinely independent 5-star hotels in Paris, celebrating 100 years in 2025. Marlène Dietrich called it home for three years in the 1930s, and her suite (with her actual piano) is still bookable. The bar is now run by CopperBay, one of the world's top 100 independent cocktail bars. And the hotel holds a Conciergerie Clefs d'Or with four dedicated concierges.
A century-old townhouse turned 5-star hotel that sits on a quiet side street one block off the Champs-Élysées. Originally a private mansion built in 1889, it became a hotel in 1925 when Swiss hotelier Emile Wolf filled it with 17th-century furniture and antique artworks — and those pieces are still here. Marlène Dietrich lived in a fourth-floor suite for three years in the 1930s; her original Érard baby grand piano still sits in the suite that bears her name. The whole place was redesigned in 2020 by Studio Jean Philippe Nuel, blending that antique-laden soul with a cleaner contemporary touch. No pool, but a private rooftop spa with Eiffel Tower views makes up for it.

How you'll actually spend your days.
Four Clefs d'Or concierges offering personalised itinerary planning: exclusive access to exhibitions, shows, opera; private countryside tours to Champagne, Burgundy, Versailles and the Loire Valley; personal shopping; restaurant reservations.
Every Thursday evening, CopperBay Lancaster hosts a rotating roster of Paris DJs spinning vinyl on vintage acoustics. Cocktails and Mediterranean tapas throughout.
On-site fitness centre with ceiling skylights overlooking Montmartre and Sacré-Coeur.
A centenary installation in the lobby: 100 numbered boxes on a wall, each hiding a whispered fragment of the hotel's history — a forgotten gesture, a celebrity shadow, a staff secret. Guests can freely explore all 100.
The hotel hosts ongoing exhibitions by contemporary artists — currently works by French-Spanish illustrator Bruno Mallart (2025). Viewable throughout public spaces.
Every Sunday, Chef Sébastien Giroud serves a different classic French sharing dish — rotating through blanquette de veau, cassoulet, leg of lamb, boeuf bourguignon and more. Family-style, ideal for groups.
Periodic wine dinners pairing 4-course menus by Chef Giroud with wines from featured estates. F&B director Gautier Rives and winemaker representatives present at the table.
