Hôtel du Louvre
Old Parisian grandeur meets polished contemporary comfort. High ceilings, elegant moldings, marble floors, colorful illustrations by Emmanuel Pierre throughout the corridors. Feels like a proper historic Parisian landmark hotel rather than a generic luxury chain — but it is absolutely a chain hotel, just a well-executed one.

Why It Matters
Originally opened in 1855 as Paris's first grand hotel. The Pissarro Suite is the exact room where impressionist painter Camille Pissarro lived and painted 11 masterpieces overlooking Avenue de l'Opéra. Sigmund Freud wrote 'Leonardo da Vinci, A Memory of His Childhood' in one of the hotel's suites in 1910. Bar L'Officine du Louvre operates under a stunning original period glass roof and is one of the most distinctive hotel bars in Paris.
Paris's original grand hotel — opened in 1855 as the city's first — sitting directly on Place André Malraux with four facades overlooking the Louvre Museum, the Palais Royal, the Comédie-Française, and Opéra Garnier. Renovated and relaunched under Hyatt's Unbound Collection in 2019, it packs 164 rooms and 57 suites into a Haussmann-era building whose bones are hard to argue with. Location is the headline act here: you are closer to the Louvre's main entrance than any other hotel in Paris.
