Great Fosters
Grand English estate meets considered contemporary luxury. The Main House rooms lean heavily into history — tapestries, ornate plasterwork, four-posters. Cloisters and Coach House rooms go bolder and fresher. The overall effect is theatrical but lived-in, not stuffy.

Why It Matters
Grade I listed building with nearly 500 years of history, a Michelin-starred restaurant (The Tudor Pass) with only seven tables, and gardens considered among the finest Arts and Crafts examples in Europe. The only AA five-star hotel in Surrey. Charlie Chaplin, Orson Welles, and Henry VIII have all been associated with the estate.
A 16th-century Elizabethan manor that probably began as a royal hunting lodge, Great Fosters is now one of Surrey's most storied five-star hotels. Set on 50 acres with a Saxon moat, Japanese bridge, listed parterres, and a sundial reputedly gifted by Sir Francis Drake, the red-brick facade and chimneys make quite an entrance. Inside, you get 56 individually decorated rooms, a Michelin-starred restaurant with only seven tables, and an art-deco heated outdoor pool — all about six miles from Heathrow.
