Grand Pigalle Experimental
Retro-chic cocktail culture den. Art deco angles meet geometric wallpaper, tasselled leather room keys, and a lobby that flows straight into an all-day bar. Hip without trying too hard.
Ask for a room with a terrace balcony when booking — they exist across multiple categories and the hotel will note the request
Why It Matters
The first Paris hotel from the Experimental Group — the crew that launched Paris's cocktail renaissance in 2007. Frenchie Pigalle is a genuine destination restaurant, not just a hotel dining room. And the Under-the-Eaves Junior Suites on the top floor, with their oeil-de-boeuf windows looking out over Montmartre, are among the more charming rooms in this part of the city.
Grand Pigalle Experimental is the Experimental Group's original Paris hotel — 37 rooms in a classic Haussmannian corner building in SoPi (South Pigalle), the 9th arrondissement neighbourhood that went from red-light to ridiculously cool. The 'Bed & Beverage' concept is baked in from day one: rooms stocked with signature Experimental Cocktail Club drinks, a lobby bar, and Frenchie Pigalle on the ground floor from Michelin-starred chef Gregory Marchand. Design by Dorothée Meilichzon reportedly riffed on Wes Anderson's Grand Budapest Hotel — martini-motif carpets, brass pineapple door knockers, geometric patterns, and golden touches throughout.
