Why It Matters
One of the few Lake Como hotels with a genuine lakefront pool and its own standalone gourmet restaurant (Imperialino) with independent Michelin recognition. The Villa Imperiale gives the property a semi-private-villa feel that most Como hotels charge twice as much to deliver.
A 1922 Art Nouveau property on the western shore of Lake Como, the Grand Hotel Imperiale sits on both sides of the main lakefront road — the main building uphill, the Villa Imperiale and pool right on the water — connected by an underground tunnel. White marble floors, frescoed ceilings, and stone-walled balconies hold up their end of the historic-hotel bargain, while the I-SPA complex is fully modern in design and treatments. The lakeside outdoor pool, with direct access for boat excursions and water skiing, is arguably the best seat on the property.

Rooms inside the lakeside Villa Imperiale — a separately managed building directly on the water across the road from the main hotel. Offers the feel of a private Italian villa with access to the lakeside pool and Imperialino restaurant right outside the door.
Executive Room
Located in the original Art Nouveau building, these were fully redone in 2017 and all have a large balcony directly over the lake. Fine textiles, Italian furniture, relaxing color palette, parquet floors, and a proper lake-view balcony — this is the sweet spot in the hotel's room hierarchy.
