Grand Hôtel Soleil d'Or
Warm, eccentric Alpine boutique. Natural materials — wood, stone, wool — meet a curated, almost flea-market-chic décor. Each room and chalet has its own distinct personality. This is the opposite of the cookie-cutter ski hotel.

Why It Matters
Megève's very first hotel, founded in 1901, and the property that effectively started the resort. After a full renovation in 2019, it emerged as a genuinely distinctive 5-star property with a rooftop bar (the only one in Megève), an on-site chocolatier run in collaboration with master chocolatier Jean-Paul Hévin, three 220 sqm private chalets, and a spa partnering with Gemology mineral cosmetics.
Megève's oldest hotel, open since 1901. Fully renovated in 2019, it sits right at the crossroads of the village's pedestrian streets — you're steps from the old cobblestone center. The hotel runs on a rich chocolate theme (yes, really — there's a working chocolatier on-site), complemented by a Savoyard cheese restaurant, a rooftop bar with the best views in town, and a spa that draws from the region's historic thermal tradition.

How you'll actually spend your days.
La Chocolaterie on Rue Charles Feige offers a hands-on, sensory experience with artisanal chocolate in all forms — hot chocolate, waffles, crêpes, ice cream — developed in collaboration with master chocolatier Jean-Paul Hévin.
The concierge team is well-regarded for arranging everything from ski instructors and equipment rental, to restaurant reservations across Megève, to transfers to other resorts like Courchevel.
With direct access to trails from the village, summer hiking is a core activity. The hotel's location in the center of Megève puts guests steps from trails leading up to the peaks.
The nearest ski lift is 450 meters from the hotel. The hotel offers a complimentary shuttle service to the lifts and can arrange ski passes, equipment rentals, and ski instructor bookings through the concierge.
A small fitness space facing the mountains, featuring TRX equipment and a virtual RPM cycling studio (two bikes with virtual classes). The adjacent area is set up for yoga, tai chi, qi gong, and stretching.
