Why It Matters
Gaya SPA was named Best Urban Spa of South America by World Luxury Spa Awards three years running (2019, 2020, 2021), and most luxurious Urban Refuge in the World in 2020. The restaurant kitchen involves a collaboration between resident chef Anderson Quevedo (UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy representative) and guest chef Lui Veronese (alumni of El Bulli, Arzak, and El Celler de Can Roca). Only 13 bungalows — and the hotel is exclusively for guests, no walk-in access.
Fuso Concept Hotel is a 13-bungalow adults-only retreat on Santa Catarina Island's northern coast, designed by architect and creative director Eduarda Tonietto (Milano Incorporadora). Where most Florianópolis hotels default to breezy coastal pastels, Fuso goes the other direction — a modern glass-and-wood structure framed by lush tropical gardens designed by Japanese-Brazilian landscape artist Alex Hanazaki. Interiors are curated with purpose: furniture by Brazilian icons Jader Almeida, Sérgio Rodrigues, and Arthur Casas, plus folk art objects and ceramics woven in throughout. The property sits on a 7,000 sqm plot on the Morro do Forte, wedged between the quieter Praia do Forte and the buzzy Jurerê Internacional, right next to an 18th-century fortress declared a national heritage site.
