Why It Matters
One of the first restaurants outside Copenhagen to earn a Michelin star (2016), and also holds the Michelin Green Star for sustainability. The kitchen runs its own large kitchen garden and sources hyper-locally. The Michelin Guide's Nordic editor called it a complete experience that lands on everyone's to-do list.
A 19th-century pavilion turned country house hotel, sitting on a park hilltop 50 metres from the shore of Præstø Fjord. The building dates to 1870 and was named after Frederick VII of Denmark. Today it holds 19 individually styled rooms and a Michelin one-star restaurant that is, frankly, the reason most people make the trip. No spa, no pool — the whole point is the food, the fjord view, and the quiet.
