Request a room or suite with garden/cloister view — quieter and far more atmospheric than street-facing rooms

Why It Matters

The only major luxury hotel in Milan built inside an actual 15th-century convent. Rooms with preserved ceiling frescoes painted by Giocondo Albertolli. First Four Seasons in continental Europe. Cloister garden that was once a herb garden for the convent's nuns. Dual-designer interiors — Urquiola in the common areas, Rochon in the rooms.

Four Seasons Hotel Milano opened in 1993 inside a genuine 15th-century convent — the brand's first property in continental Europe. The building still has its ogival vaults, Renaissance frescoes and ancient fireplaces; now they share space with furniture by Poliform and Cassina. In 2025, acclaimed designer Pierre-Yves Rochon completed a full renovation of all 118 rooms and suites, following Patricia Urquiola's 2021 overhaul of the common areas and spa. The result is Milan's most historically significant luxury hotel, sitting squarely in the Quadrilatero della Moda, steps from Via Monte Napoleone.

Designer Suite

At 91 sqm, the Designer Suite is a showcase of modern Italian form. Distinctive oval windows flood the room with light. Separate bedroom, a distinct work space and a sunlit living room. The oval windows are architectural originals — there's nothing else like them in the building.

Fashion Suite with Terrace

Fashion Suite with Terrace

68 sqm specialty suite with a private terrace — rare in central Milan. The fashion-district name is apt: the hotel's location directly in the Quadrilatero makes this suite ideal for guests here to shop Via Monte Napoleone seriously.

Fresco Suite

Fresco Suite

The suite everyone asks about. The ceiling carries a genuine fresco painted by Giocondo Albertolli (1742–1839) — the same neoclassical artist who decorated parts of the Palazzo Reale. Two large gilt-framed mirrors expand the space. Warm yellows, oranges and golds complete an atmosphere that sits somewhere between a Milanese apartment and a small private museum.

Renaissance Suite

The suite with the original Renaissance stucco ceiling — a preserved architectural element dating back to the convent's heyday. Pierre-Yves Rochon's redesign kept the canopy bed and garden views front and centre. At 90 sqm with an open studio layout, it functions as a genuine pied-à-terre rather than just a hotel room.
