Cartagena
Colonial heritage meets considered modern luxury. Dark woods, arched windows, handcrafted Colombian furniture, and tropical courtyard gardens — but without the stuffy colonial-resort feel. Getsemaní's creative, street-art energy bleeds right into the property's DNA.

Why It Matters
First Four Seasons in Cartagena, and the brand's third in Colombia. The restoration of genuinely historic buildings — the 16th-century San Francisco Temple, the 1920s Club Cartagena, and five others — is rare for a new luxury hotel. Eight dining venues with Major Food Group involvement, two rooftop pools, the UMARI Spa in a former cloister, and relatively accessible rates by Four Seasons standards (from around $525/night).
Seven restored heritage buildings in the heart of Getsemaní, stitched together by tropical courtyard gardens. Opened April 2, 2026, this is the first Four Seasons in Cartagena — and it is unlike anything else in the city. The 16th-century San Francisco Temple and a 1920s beaux-arts social club now house 131 rooms and eight bars and restaurants. Interior design by the late François Catroux makes even the smallest details feel deliberate, from sculptural plaster reliefs to custom Colombian furniture by Poli Mallarino.

Exclusive to Four Seasons. Charter a luxury yacht or catamaran to the Islas del Rosario (27 coral islands) or Isla Barú. Snorkel in remote spots, sunbathe on deck, and dine on board — ceviche and champagne picnic is an option. English-speaking guide shares history along the way.
Sail Cartagena's bays on a restored mahogany vessel at sunset, passing historic forts from the water. Wine, canapés prepared by a leading local chef, and live music on board.
Exclusive to Four Seasons. A one-hour drive to a private nature reserve for a two- to three-hour trek with local biologists in search of the endangered cotton-top tamarin monkey — a tiny primate native to northwestern Colombia. Binoculars, trekking poles, and backpacks provided.
Exclusive to Four Seasons. A walking tour of Getsemaní street art with a local guide, followed by a hands-on graffiti workshop in a private art space. Guests create their own work on canvas using different techniques.
A private group experience at the iconic Havana Café, reserved exclusively for your party. Professional dancers lead a personalized class in salsa, cumbia, and champeta fundamentals, followed by a performance and live music by the Havana Café band. Ends with an open dance floor.
A neighbourhood walk with a local Getsemanisense guide who knows every corner. Watch domino games, stop at a traditional tienda, explore street art murals and open-air galleries. Closes with a lively intro to champeta dancing.
Two rooftop pools served by an open-air bar, with 360-degree views of the Walled City, the modern cityscape, and the Caribbean harbour. The resort-style amenity the hotel leans on given there is no beach.
