FirstName
Design-forward lifestyle hotel with a sustainability streak and a music obsession. Playful and social — weekly DJ sets, live concerts, and Sunday brunch with live music — but still practical enough for business travelers. The oversized Badaboum mascot statue in the lobby sets the tone. Not a hushed, formal property.
The Firstroom suite on the top floor has a 58 sq m private terrace with city views — worth the upgrade for a special occasion
Why It Matters
First JdV by Hyatt property in France. Green Key certified. Several room categories include private outdoor saunas on the terrace. The Mériadeck location sits among some of the most remarkable brutalist architecture in Europe, including the listed 1977 Caisse d'Épargne building — often called the 'Brutalist Guggenheim' — visible directly from some rooms.
FirstName Bordeaux opened in January 2023 as the first JdV by Hyatt property in France. It sits in the Mériadeck district — Bordeaux's modernist business quarter — in a striking building with tram lines A and F stopping right at the door. The hotel runs on a 'Feel Good' philosophy and holds Green Key certification, with eco-minded design choices throughout: Océopin organic vegan toiletries, activated-charcoal air purifiers in every room, French press coffee makers instead of pod machines, and shared floor kitchenettes with a Smeg fridge full of organic juices in place of plastic mini-bars.
