Le Manoir Richelieu
Grand historic château resort with serious outdoor credentials. Formal enough for a special occasion, but families and golfers feel just as at home. Classic Fairmont elegance — antique pieces, crown molding, warm wood tones — without being stuffy.
Always book a river-view room — the upgrade is worth every extra dollar; standard rooms face a courtyard
Why It Matters
One of Canada's oldest continuously operating resort hotels, open since 1899. It hosted the G7 Summit in 2018, has the only golf course in Quebec redesigned by Darrell Huxham, and sits on a bluff with an uninterrupted panorama of the St. Lawrence. The Casino de Charlevoix is literally on the property.
Built in 1899 and perched on the cliffs above the St. Lawrence River, Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu is one of Canada's great resort hotels — a French-château pile with 405 rooms, six restaurants, a 27-hole golf course, a full spa, and a casino a one-minute walk away. It hosted the G7 Summit in 2018. The setting really is as good as everyone says: the river views from the upper floors and the golf course terrace are legitimately special. But the base rooms run just 225 sq ft, so if you're here for the grand experience, spring for a river-view or suite upgrade.
