Marais
Neo-Gothic drama with 1950s New York chophouse energy. Creams, chestnuts and chestnuts. Persian rugs. Lots of candlelight. Art collected by a fictional world traveler. Feels theatrical without being campy.

Why It Matters
This is the Experimental Group's first true flagship hotel — the group that started Paris's cocktail renaissance in 2007. Designer Tristan Auer, who also did the Hôtel de Crillon and Les Bains, had free rein on a full redesign. Temple & Chapon instantly became one of the city's hardest reservations. And the Roman bath spa is genuinely rare in a Paris city-center hotel at this size.
The Experimental Group's flagship Paris hotel, opened in 2025 inside the former Sinner, a converted Brutalist-era Orange telecoms building. Designer Tristan Auer completely reworked the space around a fictional well-traveled character — ecclesiastical arches, grand chandeliers, jewel-tone textiles — with a consistent New York-meets-Le-Marais thread running from the chophouse restaurant to the cocktail bar. 43 rooms, a Roman-bath spa, and a dining room that's been one of Paris's most-booked tables since opening.
