Why It Matters
One of Argentina's most historically significant estancias — literally governed the country from these grounds during Roca's presidency. The park by Charles Thays (who also designed Buenos Aires' Palermo parks) survives in part today. The hotel keeps the original room where Roca slept as a bookable suite.
A 19th-century presidential estancia turned 20-room boutique hotel on 500 hectares at the foot of the Sierras Chicas mountains. The historic main house was the summer residence of two-time Argentine president Julio Argentino Roca, and the grounds include a 100-hectare park designed by French landscape architect Charles Thays in 1900 — complete with an artificial lake. The place borders the colonial Camino Real and is 60 minutes north of Córdoba city.

Bouquet
Rooms named after flowers: Albertine and Mary Rose are in Villa Clara (the former women's swimming pool building, converted to guestrooms mid-20th century). Cosmos, Magnolia and Madre Selva are at the far end of the estancia, with wood-paneled interiors and a quiet, tucked-away atmosphere. The most serene rooms on the property.
Entre Pircas
Detached from the main historic building and set deeper into the estancia park. Rooms named after wildflowers (Verbenas, Amapolas, Petunias, Lirios, Salvias, Malvas). Each has an interior courtyard and views toward the lake. Contemporary architecture that contrasts pleasantly with the historic core.
Garden
Two clusters: Tipas, Olivos and Ceibos are in a block adjacent to the casco histórico, framed by a century-old tipa tree with views of the final golf holes. Agapantos, Lavandas and Camelias are in the old ranch (Ranchón), renovated for comfort — one room still has its original brick ceiling. Wood-clad interiors give real warmth.
Suite de la Novia
Named for Clara Funes, wife of President Roca. Located in Villa Clara, a former indoor women's swimming pool. Spacious interiors with a large bathroom, and a private gallery with panoramic views over the golf course, the kitchen garden, and the old rose gardens. A genuine haven.
Suite Roca
Located in the original 19th-century casco histórico — this is the actual room where General and President Julio Argentino Roca rested. Meticulously restored to preserve its original architecture and layout. The most historically significant room in the house. Deep in Argentine political history.
Villa Antiguo Lavadero
One of the most characterful buildings on the estate. Dating to the late 19th century, it was originally the estancia's laundry and ironing house — the original washing basins are still intact and preserved as decor. The suite sits at one end of the hotel with a private garden surrounded by old roses and a distinctive grove.

La Paz Golf Club — 18 holes, Par 72, 2,360 yards. Designed and built by Bunge Golf. The course runs through Centennial Park, along the Ascochinga River, and through the valleys and hills of the Sierras Chicas. Accessible for beginners, challenging for experienced players. Includes a driving range and practice area.

The estate is home to various hummingbird species. Guided birdwatching trips can also take guests to Laguna Mar Chiquita and Laguna del Plata for flamingos, and Pampa de Achala for Andean condors.
