Esmé Miami Beach
Bohemian-luxe Spanish village. Wes Anderson meets 1930s Havana, with leopard-print curtains and gothic floral wallpaper. Warm and slightly retro — zero mid-century modernism in sight.

Why It Matters
One of the most affordable Michelin Key hotels in the entire United States. Recognized with a Michelin Key in both 2024 and 2025. The eight-building property includes an omakase speakeasy with just 12 seats, a Trader Vic's Bamboo Room tiki bar housed in Al Capone's former gambling den, and an Andalusian gin-and-tapas concept — all within the paseos of a functioning Spanish village one block from South Beach.
Esmé Miami Beach is a Michelin Key-winning boutique hotel spread across eight Spanish-Mediterranean buildings along the historic Española Way. Originally built in 1925 as a bohemian artists' colony, it re-opened in November 2021 after a $40 million renovation. The place has real bones: Al Capone ran a gambling den out of what is now the Casa Matanza guesthouse, and Desi Arnaz kicked off a rumba craze on the same block. Interior designer Jessica Schuster leaned into the history hard — think jewel-toned foyers, maroon carpeted hallways, vintage key-lined check-in desks, and rooms swathed in saturated rosy pink, chartreuse green, and peachy hues. One block off the Collins Avenue strip but planted right on Washington Avenue's nightlife corridor, so it's quieter than the big beach hotels but not exactly silent.
