A four-room boutique hotel inside a restored 1850s mansion in the village of Eressos — birthplace of the poet Sappho — on Lesvos' rugged southwestern coast. The building was once the most important family home in the village, and the bones show it: original stonework, soaring ceilings, a gold-plated ceiling rose in the master suite. Right next door, the owners built a genuine hammam spa from scratch in a converted carpenter's shop. Two suites, two rooms, one outdoor pool. The whole place sleeps ten and can be rented as a private villa. Breakfast is included and made almost entirely from local organic ingredients by a partner chef.

Elpida Suite
The most atmospheric room in the building, sitting on the ground floor and packed with historical character — stone walls, original architectural details, references throughout to the building's long history. The bedroom has a queen-size double bed; the lounge area has a sofabed that sleeps a third person. This is the only room at the Eressian that accepts children aged 12 and over. No pool or sea view from this one, but the immersive ground-floor ambiance more than compensates.

Maria Room
The coziest room in the hotel. Situated on the first floor with views of the mountains and Eressos village rather than the sea. Atmospheric feel, warm tones, fits two. One distinction: this room uses a Cocomat® mattress rather than the Serta® found in the other rooms — a nice premium Greek touch.

Niki Room
The brightest room in the hotel, on the first floor, with standout views of the Eressian valley, sea, and pool. Light pours in. A double room sleeping two, with a writing desk and all the standard amenities. No separate lounge area, but the pool and sea views from the first floor compensate. Serta® hotel mattress.

Sappho Suite
The original master suite of the 1850s mansion — it was the most important room in the most important house in the village, and that pedigree is still very visible. Two distinct spaces: a grand bedroom and a separate lounge area. Windows look out over Eressos village, the valley, the mountains, and the sea. The showstopper is the gold-plated, acorn-themed ceiling rose, a nod to the 19th-century acorn trade that made the island wealthy and which inspired the hotel's own logo. Serta® hotel mattress.
