Why It Matters
First outpost of the edit x seven brand, a sister line to seven x seven Ishigaki (named one of Japan's Top 10 Hotels at the Luxury Awards 2025). The standalone private sauna seats 8 and uses a globally rare hybrid Finnish/Morris system. The LOX-Fit gym simulates altitude equivalent to Mount Fuji's 5th Station. No other hotel in the Gotemba area combines this level of wellness infrastructure with full in-room kitchens and direct Fuji views.
edit x seven opened in September 2025 as the first property in a new brand spun off from the highly regarded seven x seven hotels. The concept is 'luxury self-hospitality': 49 rooms across a 10-story high-rise and a 4-story dog-friendly building, every one fitted with a private balcony, a mini-kitchen, and a washer-dryer. Nine rooms include in-room saunas; rooms on the 4th floor and above face Mount Fuji directly. Check-in is via QR code, and an on-site hypoxic gym operates around the clock with zero staff — the philosophy here is that guests design their own stay.

Guests with a valid Japanese or international driver's licence can drive their own car on the Fuji International Speedway circuit, located approximately 20–25 minutes from the hotel. Three laps, including the famous homestretch. A lead car guides the convoy. No racing licence, helmet, or gloves required. Book online by noon the day before.
One of Japan's largest outlet malls, 6 minutes by car or reachable via bus and free shuttle. Over 200 stores with international and Japanese designer brands, all with Mount Fuji views.
Guided whisky distillery tour at the Kirin Distillery, 12 minutes by car. Tours in Japanese include a production walkthrough and tasting.
An on-site gym set to a hypoxic environment equivalent to 2,500 metres altitude (roughly Mount Fuji's 5th Station) from 6:00–24:00, dropping to 1,500m equivalent between midnight and 6:00am. A 30-minute walk on the treadmill here is said to yield several times the cardiovascular benefit of flat-ground walking. There are no staff present — AI cameras monitor safety. Guests bring their own workout clothes and shoes. Free for hotel guests.
The Gotemba trailhead for Mount Fuji is 30 minutes by car. The Gotemba route is less crowded than the Yoshida route and offers a quieter, more rugged climb experience.
The sauna suites are set up for proper Nordic Cycle therapy — sauna heat, cold plunge, outdoor air bath — all in complete privacy with Mount Fuji as the backdrop. Included with sauna room bookings. The Sauna King rooms feature the SAUNAGE® system.
Artificial turf dog run on the 4th floor of the dog-friendly building. Open to all guests staying in dog-friendly rooms, free of charge. Summer hours 6:00–18:00; winter hours (November–February) 7:00–17:00.
