Ecole St. Pierre Hotel
Contemporary-meets-historic. Custom Scandinavian-influenced furniture, hardwood parquet floors, and Le Labo amenities sit inside a building with a thousand-year-old footprint. It's quiet, intimate, and personal — the staff knows your name.
The Galata Suite with Terrace gives you direct Galata Tower views — worth the upgrade
Why It Matters
One of very few hotels in Istanbul where you can dine literally against a surviving section of the medieval Genoese city walls. Opened September 2021, it earned a Michelin Key designation and was named one of Istanbul's best hotels by Condé Nast Traveller in 2023. The architect of the original school building was Gaspare Fossati — the same Italian who led the 19th-century restoration of Hagia Sophia.
A 17-room boutique hotel occupying a former 19th-century French Catholic school in Galata, steps from the Galata Tower. The original 1842 classrooms are now guest rooms, each door still marked with an abacus. The big draw is what's literally inside the walls — actual 13th-century Genoese stone fortifications that the restaurant wraps around.

How you'll actually spend your days.
The Galata Tower is literally on the same street — a 1-2 minute walk. Staff can advise on best times to visit (early morning or late evening to avoid queues).
The hotel actively helps guests plan their Istanbul experience. Staff assist with transportation, provide curated local recommendations, and have reportedly found specialists like English-speaking physiotherapists for guests on request. The hotel website has a dedicated 'Area & Activities' section covering historical sights and shopping.
