River Tents are louder — the river is audible all night. Light sleepers or anyone not keen on white noise should book a Mountain Tent.

Why It Matters

One of the most credible luxury glamping operations in the American West. Orvis-endorsed private fly fishing on the West Fork of the Dolores, all-inclusive rates from $2,200/night, a maximum of 16 guests on 500 acres, and a farmhouse dining program sourcing from its own farm and Sutcliffe Vineyards. Sister property to the acclaimed Dunton Hot Springs, just 4 miles upriver.

Dunton River Camp sits on Cresto Ranch, a former cattle ranch dating to the late 1800s, along the West Fork of the Dolores River in southwestern Colorado. Just eight safari-style tents — four overlooking the river, four tucked into aspen trees — max capacity of 16 guests. Everything is included: all meals, all booze (except the Reserve wine list), mountain bikes, sauna, and laundry. Open June through mid-October only.
