Why It Matters
One of the very few hotels in Puglia actually built into the original city walls, with direct cliff-top Adriatic views. Named after Ferdinando Loffredo, the 16th-century Neapolitan nobleman who served as Viceroy of Bari and Otranto — the same walls he helped build now frame the hotel.
Don Ferrante is a 17-room boutique hotel built into Monopoli's ancient seafront ramparts — once a small fortress, now a sea-view relais spread across three separate buildings in the old town. Honey-colored limestone vaults, 14 rooftop chimneys, and an Adriatic that seems to start right at your window. The restaurant opens on a rooftop terrace in summer, and the small pool with hydromassage jets sits suspended between sky and sea.
