Why It Matters
One of the very few beachfront hotels on Corfu — its permit predates the coastal building ban. Built for Onassis and frequented by President Eisenhower, Maria Callas, and European royalty. Originally built in the late 1960s as a trophy asset for the Onassis family, Domes Miramare sits right on the Ionian shore at Moraitika — a rare thing on Corfu, where beachfront construction is now illegal. The multimillion-pound renovation retained the original modernist bones of architect Charalambos Sfaellos while interior designer Kristina Zanic stripped everything back to creamy neutrals, local art, and tactile natural materials. It is adults-only (16+), all-suites, and quietly confident about it.
