Dexamenes Seaside Hotel
Industrial-chic brutalist minimalism meets barefoot beach holiday. Raw concrete, reclaimed steel, polished terrazzo. Quiet and contemplative by day; the courtyard has a buzz in the evenings.
Beachfront WineTank Suites have the most dramatic wake-up experience — sea directly through the sliding glass door at the foot of the bed. Book these over Courtyard if budget allows.
Why It Matters
Winner of the Global Ultimate Accolade at the AHEAD Awards and featured on the Condé Nast Traveler Hot List. The building itself — a post-war winery built directly on the sea so wine could be pumped onto ships — is recognized at the EU's Mies van der Rohe Architecture Awards. There is nowhere else quite like it.
A 1920s winery on the western Peloponnese coast, converted one-to-one into a hotel where guests literally sleep inside the original concrete wine-storage tanks. Athens-based architects K-Studio kept interventions surgical — strip out the machinery, add a timber-screened patio, hang a sliding glass door at the foot of the bed — and the result is something genuinely unlike anywhere else. The furniture is modern and a touch utilitarian, the concrete walls carry all their original patina, and the beach is right there.
