Why It Matters

One of the very few hotels within a 2-minute walk of Prague Castle, housed in a building with a genuine literary pedigree. Interior designed by Czech architect Borek Šípek — a real name, not a hotel-chain designer. No pool, no ballroom, but a private spa with sauna and jacuzzi, and a café that does genuinely good homemade cakes.

Design Hotel Neruda sits in a converted 14th-century convent on Nerudova street in Malá Strana, the same steep cobblestone hill that leads from the Charles Bridge up to Prague Castle. The building is named for Czech writer Jan Neruda, who by some accounts lived here. Inside the centuries-old shell is a decidedly modern hotel: 42 rooms designed by the late Czech architect Borek Šípek, with contemporary furniture, oriental carpets, painted tiles, and glass-walled bathrooms in the Design rooms. Standard rooms draw their character from Neruda's writer's study — quieter, warmer, and perfectly comfortable.

Design Deluxe Room

The flagship room at Neruda. Designed by Borek Šípek, each one is different — king-size bed, oriental carpets, painted tile floors, and a glass-walled bathroom as the centrepiece. Views of Nerudova Street. At 18–20 sqm these are not large rooms, but the design makes them feel considered rather than cramped.

Mini Room

The smallest option at 10 sqm. Genuinely compact — this is a bed-and-shower situation. King bed takes up most of the space, no room for an extra bed. But the full hotel experience (breakfast, spa access, café) is still yours, and the location doesn't change.

Romantic Design Deluxe Room

Two rooms specifically configured for couples — the glass-walled bathroom is the signature feature here. Same Borek Šípek design DNA as the Design Deluxe, 20 sqm, king bed. Good pick for a romantic occasion if you're comfortable with a glass bathroom.

Standard Room

Solid, comfortable rooms inspired by Jan Neruda's writer's study — warm character rather than Šípek-designed flair. 15 sqm, king or twin beds. Shower (not bathtub). Good value for the location if flashy design isn't the priority.

Superior Room

Two sub-types here: Design Superior rooms (Šípek-designed, same family as the Deluxe but at 15 sqm) and Superior rooms with Nerudova Street views, inspired by the writer's study. The street-view option has more historical warmth — king or twin beds available, coffee and tea facilities included.
