Why It Matters

Michelin Key holder for 2024 and 2025. One of the few genuinely owner-operated masserias in southern Puglia where the hosts — Roberto, Roberta, Nicoletta, Alessandro, and chef Moussa — are present and personally invested in every guest's stay. Just six rooms, all adults-only, all unique. The breakfast alone draws repeat visitors.

A 14th-century masseria deep in Grecìa Salentina — the Greek-descended enclave at the very tip of Puglia's heel. The Ghione family transformed it from a crumbling farmhouse into a six-room country-house hotel of real character: vaulted ceilings, Lecce stone floors, 1800s frescoes, hand-thrown ceramics, wrought iron beds, and gauze curtains that catch the breeze. It earned a Michelin Key in both 2024 and 2025. This is not a resort. No outbuildings, no villa compounds — just six distinct rooms and a family that genuinely runs the place, cooks your breakfast, pours your aperitivo, and books your dinner table.

The Architect's Suite

From EUR340 / night

The most architecturally considered room in the house. Ancient stone and carved stone meet in a series of niches that throw soft pools of light. The floor still holds large basins where harvested wheat was kept — one of the oldest surviving elements of the masseria. Called out by the Michelin Guide as the most stylish of the six.

The Small Balcony Room

From EUR290 / night

Airy and refined with a striking large 'star' vault overhead. White ceramics made by local Salentine artisans throughout, and a small balcony looking out onto the garden. The combination of handcraft and architectural detail makes this one feel very Puglia.

The Stallion's Room

From EUR290 / night

Built into the original stable on the ground floor. Stone basins and iron rings from the animals' days remain as design elements — deliberately left, not hidden. A small outdoor area with a generous lemon tree and aromatic flowers gives it a private garden-corner feel. Stone shower instead of Italian-style.

The main room — largest at 37 sqm, first floor, with walls carrying traces of 1800s frescoes. The 'double star' vault is a showpiece, and the wrought iron bed under gauze curtains on Lecce stone floors creates something that feels genuinely timeless. An arched terrace surrounded by agaves and earthenware vases finishes it off. Double Italian-style shower.
