Why It Matters
Winner of Texas Travel's 2023 Unique Lodging Award and the only real design-forward boutique hotel in Lubbock. Pays genuine homage to the city's cotton industry and Buddy Holly musical legacy rather than generic Texan clichés. Midnight Shift restaurant draws locals as well as hotel guests, and the live music schedule runs Thursday through Saturday.
Cotton Court is the most distinctive hotel in Lubbock by a considerable distance — a purpose-built, courtyard-style boutique property from the Texas-based Valencia Hotel Group, opened in 2020. The design leans hard into two things Lubbock does well: cotton and music. The two-story lobby features a mural that's part cotton futures board, part Buddy Holly portrait, and guitars on display behind the front desk that guests can actually borrow. Rooms are inspired by Lubbock's cotton warehouse heritage, and the heart of the property is a landscaped courtyard wrapped around a 50-foot heated pool, fire pits, and a poolside bar.

Two double beds plus a balcony looking over the courtyard. Good for groups or families who want the outdoor views. Otherwise mirrors the Deluxe King in layout and finishes.

Step up from Classic gets you a balcony with courtyard views — worth it if you want to watch the evening fire pit scene from above. Same king setup with plush couch, executive desk, and rainfall shower bathroom.

The suite upgrade that actually makes a difference. Separate living area with plush sofa, executive desk, and a dining table for two. The bathroom steps it up with both a deep soaking tub and a large walk-in rainfall shower, plus an executive-sized vanity with Lather® products.

The top of the house. Double-door entrance, two separate entertainment areas, a wet bar, and a dining table that seats six. Sliding barn doors open to a private terrace with courtyard and fire pit views. The bathroom has dual vanities, a deep soaking tub, and an oversized rainfall shower. The TV upgrades to 75 inches.
