Why It Matters
It sits in the medieval Torre dei Consorti, literally at the base of the Ponte Vecchio. La Terrazza rooftop bar on top of that tower is one of the city's best perches for cocktails with views of Brunelleschi's Dome, Palazzo Vecchio, and the Arno — and it also serves as the breakfast room when in season. The Ferragamo Museum is a three-minute walk away.
Continentale is a 4-star, 43-room design hotel owned by the Ferragamo family and operated under their Lungarno Collection. Florentine architect Michele Bönan took his cues from 1950s and 1960s Florence — the golden age of Italian fashion — filling rooms with oversized black-and-white fashion photography, handmade leather trunks repurposed as desks, and clocks flipped on their sides to become bedside tables. The result is a hotel that feels like stepping into an Italian Vogue shoot, right at the foot of the Ponte Vecchio.
