Why It Matters
One of the very few true oceanfront resorts in New England. Forbes Four Star, AAA 4 Diamond, and 1 Michelin Key. Originally opened in 1872, completely rebuilt for the modern era. 226 rooms and 70 acres — big by boutique standards, but the cliffside location means panoramic Atlantic views from nearly everywhere on property.
Cliff House Maine has been sitting on Bald Head Cliff since 1872, 90 feet above the Atlantic on the southern Maine coast. After a complete architectural overhaul that reopened in 2016 and finished in 2017, it's now a full-scale modern luxury resort spanning 70 oceanfront acres with 226 rooms and suites. Every single room has a private terrace with ocean or coastal views — that's not marketing fluff, that's just true.
