Why It Matters

One of England's most-referenced country house hotels, a Relais & Châteaux member, and home to the UK's first luxury treehouse hotel suites. Named in The Times 100 Best Places to Stay in the UK. Recently awarded Best Luxury Spa by the Well Travelled Awards. The Dining Room holds a Tatler Restaurant Award. Has its own walled kitchen garden and a James Martin cookery school on-site.

Chewton Glen is an 18th-century five-star country house hotel sitting on 130 acres of Hampshire parkland, right where the New Forest meets the edge of the South Coast. It's been doing this longer than almost anyone else in England, and it shows — not in a stuffy way, but in the confidence of a place that knows exactly what it is. The Treehouses are the headline act: 14 private suites suspended 35 feet up in the canopy, each with a wraparound terrace and outdoor hot tub. But the main house holds its own with a recently reimagined Dining Room, a serious spa, and an activity list that runs from falconry to Bear Grylls survival sessions.
