Chetzeron
Alpine minimalism meets raw industrial bones. Concrete porticos, stone facades, and wide-planked oak sit alongside plush bedding and panoramic windows. Earthy and warm, not flashy. The lobby doubles as an après-ski bar with a fireplace that actually gets used.

Why It Matters
One of the only ski-in/ski-out hotels in the Alps that sits inside a converted gondola station, at an altitude few hotels in Europe can match. The road up is closed to private traffic — you arrive by gondola, on skis, or in a hotel snowcat. That enforced remoteness is the whole point.
Chetzeron is a 16-room design hotel carved out of a former gondola station at 2,112m above sea level on the ski slopes of Crans-Montana. The building dates from the 1960s and was converted into a restaurant in 2009, then a hotel in 2014 by owner Sami Lamaa. In winter, ski directly from your room. In summer, the same pistes become hiking trails and bike park runs.

How you'll actually spend your days.
The blue and black trails of the Crans-Montana Bike Park start at the foot of the hotel. E-bikes can be arranged for the resort's extensive network of paths.
Crans-Montana's terrain suits beginner off-piste skiers well. The hotel can connect guests with a local guide.
Skin up to Bella Lui for a spectacular sunset, then ski back. Routes available from the hotel's front door.
The hotel sits directly on the Crans-Montana pistes. Hotel guests get the first descent of the day on a perfectly groomed run. Ski equipment rental, packages, and instructor referrals arranged at reception.
A 30-minute snowshoe loop from the hotel with panoramic views of the Crans-Montana ski area.
A few kilometres from the hotel, the Corbyre mountain pasture offers a 7:15am cow-exit experience — a genuinely Swiss morning activity.
A puzzle escape game set inside the former gondola station, built around the hotel's own history. For groups of 6–16 people.
Before 9am in summer, the rooftop pool area is cleared and yoga mats made available. Self-practice only — no instructor included.
Multiple marked trails start from the hotel. The hotel's favourite is a 4-hour loop via Bella Lui and the Violet Hut with +/- 600m elevation. The Marmot Trail is a lighter option.
The eastern exposure of the Valley Superior rooms and terrace makes sunrise a genuine daily highlight — described by the hotel as "a moment not to be missed under any circumstances."
