Why It Matters
One of the only ski-in/ski-out hotels in the Alps that sits inside a converted gondola station, at an altitude few hotels in Europe can match. The road up is closed to private traffic — you arrive by gondola, on skis, or in a hotel snowcat. That enforced remoteness is the whole point.
Chetzeron is a 16-room design hotel carved out of a former gondola station at 2,112m above sea level on the ski slopes of Crans-Montana. The building dates from the 1960s and was converted into a restaurant in 2009, then a hotel in 2014 by owner Sami Lamaa. In winter, ski directly from your room. In summer, the same pistes become hiking trails and bike park runs.

Four rooms with two bay windows giving 180-degree panoramic views of either the Southern Alps or Lac de Tseuzier — named Weisshorn, Monte Rosa, Wildhorn, and Bishorn. These are the rooms for view maximalists. Some interconnect with a Valley Superior or Junior Suite. One is wheelchair accessible.

Three suites, the most spacious option at Chetzeron. King bed plus a sofa bed that sleeps two children, separated by a curtain — genuinely useful for families. Bay windows face west, making these the prime sunset seats in the house. Oak and stone walls, bathtub and walk-in shower in the bathroom.

Nine rooms spread across three levels, each named after an Alpine peak — Trubelstock, Mont Bonvin, Mont Lachaux, Torrenthorn, Schwarzhorn, Bella Tola, Zinalrothorn, Monte Leone, and Fletschorn. Bay windows face east toward the rising sun over the Haut-Valais. Walk-in Italian shower. Oak paneling, stone accents, and the hotel's own edelweiss-based toiletries throughout.

The blue and black trails of the Crans-Montana Bike Park start at the foot of the hotel. E-bikes can be arranged for the resort's extensive network of paths.

Multiple marked trails start from the hotel. The hotel's favourite is a 4-hour loop via Bella Lui and the Violet Hut with +/- 600m elevation. The Marmot Trail is a lighter option.
The eastern exposure of the Valley Superior rooms and terrace makes sunrise a genuine daily highlight — described by the hotel as "a moment not to be missed under any circumstances."
