Five suites, two Michelin Keys, one open kitchen — and the chef is the owner. Chalet Sofija is a deliberately intimate, adults-only retreat run by Svetozar 'Pope' Raspopović and his wife Aleksandra, the couple behind Ljubljana's celebrated Gostilna AS restaurant. The building itself breaks hard from Alpine convention: a modernist hillside structure with clean lines and floor-to-ceiling glazing, oriented to frame the Špik massif on one side and Kranjska Gora ski slopes on the other. Every suite is named after a grandchild. Stays are half-board, and Pope personally commands the open kitchen each evening.

Presidential Suite Aleksander
Named after Pope's second eldest grandson and matching Suite Izak in generosity. Rich red and burgundy palette throughout. An in-suite library with two deep burgundy armchairs sits under a grand circular light — books travel with you to the terrace if the mood takes you. In-suite jacuzzi, designer wooden exercise bike, and an 80 m² terrace with views of Špik and Kranjska Gora.

The largest suite, named after Pope's eldest grandson, designed to match his ambitious character. Deep blue color scheme runs from the bed to the sofas and rugs. A loveseat faces the in-suite jacuzzi. There's also a designer wooden exercise bike. The east-facing terrace — a massive 80 m² — catches the morning sun over the Julian Alps, with wooden loungers draped in sheepskin. Unlimited wellness access included.

Suite Izabela
Dedicated to granddaughter Izabela, 'known for her drive and intelligence,' and the design is sharp and detail-obsessed to match. Soft green hues run through the bed, decorative accents, and the elegantly designed bathroom. The 60 m² east-facing terrace faces Špik and stretches all the way visually to Kranjska Gora.

The most compact of the five suites but still generously proportioned at 50 m². A 'love seat' loveseat is positioned to face Mount Špik — the setup for a glass of sparkling wine is hard to argue with. The 40 m² terrace opens onto fresh mountain air and evening views. Same wellness and dining inclusions as the presidential suites.

Named after granddaughter Tara, described as a 'gentle artistic soul,' and the suite lives up to that billing with carefully chosen artistic details throughout. The key difference from the others: the bed faces west, directly toward Kranjska Gora, making this the sunset suite. A harmonious color palette ties together the 60 m² interior and 60 m² terrace.

Guided excursion by buggy through the varied terrain of Kranjska Gora. Offered as a bookable activity through the chalet.
Both lakes are reachable within an hour's drive through the Radovna Valley. The chalet can arrange guided sightseeing tours.
Both Italy and Austria are just 30 minutes by car. The Soča Valley is accessible via the Vršič Pass. A genuine bonus of the borderland location.
The chalet provides access to electric bikes for exploring the scenic cycling route from Mojstrana through Kranjska Gora and all the way into Italy. Flat-ish valley road, stunning backdrop.
A nine-hole golf course along the right bank of the Pišnica and Sava rivers in Kranjska Gora, set against the Alps. The chalet can facilitate access.
Walk directly from the property to Ferrata Hvadnik or Ferrata Jermn, or tackle longer routes to Blenkova planina or Trupejevo poldne. The Martuljek gorge is immediately accessible and is one of the region's finest short hikes.
Finnish and Turkish saunas plus the heated outdoor infinity pool, all with Julian Alps views. Available any time — reservable at any hour of the day. Included with all suite stays.
Kranjska Gora and Podkoren ski resorts are accessible for downhill skiers; cross-country trails in Rateče, Planica, and Radovna. Ski storage on-site. Podkoren chairlift is 3.8 miles away (about 15 min drive).
