Château de Drudas
18th-century French aristocratic grandeur, meticulously restored. Crystal chandeliers, Louis XV seating, regency damask curtains, and original mouldings. Intimate and genuinely historical rather than themed. Very quiet and rural — this is not the spot for nightlife or buzzy bars.

Why It Matters
A genuine classified Historic Monument operating as a luxury hotel — not a conversion that erased the history. Member of Relais & Châteaux since 2018. The Gault & Millau-rated Le Verdurier restaurant draws on the hotel's own kitchen gardens. The spa occupies the original west wing with Sothys-branded treatments. And the whole property sits in a tiny village of fewer than 300 people, making the sense of seclusion complete.
A classified Historic Monument in the Gascon countryside, 32km northwest of Toulouse. Built in 1774 as the summer residence of the aristocratic Rességuier family, it was meticulously restored by architect Pierre-Henri Bouchacourt and reopened as a 4-star Relais & Châteaux hotel under owners Jean and Françoise Rossi. All 23 rooms sit inside the original structure — stucco, frescoes, period parquet, and original tomette tiles intact — with modern climate control and marble bathrooms quietly folded in. The gourmet restaurant Le Verdurier and the spa in the west wing round out a property that feels far more like a very grand private house than a hotel.

On Property
How you'll actually spend your days.
The property offers guided tours of the château's exquisitely restored 18th-century architecture. The history is rich: the Rességuier family, Jules de Rességuier (friend of Victor Hugo), the 1774 rebuild, and the detailed restoration. A richly illustrated historical booklet (in French) is also available.
The château's verdant gardens include century-old cedar trees and a calm terrace. A natural place to linger with coffee or Armagnac — no itinerary required.
The surrounding Haute-Garonne countryside is good walking and cycling territory. The hotel can provide guidance on local routes around Drudas and through the area's bastides, dovecotes, and medieval villages.
Seasonal outdoor swimming pool in the château gardens with loungers and umbrellas. Open in summer months.
The château's cellar holds around 100 wines including some grand crus, plus a serious selection of Armagnac — France's oldest brandy, distilled from four grape varieties of the southwest. Tastings are available to hotel guests.
