di San Marco Charming Hotel & Spa
Aristocratic and authentically Sicilian — stone courtyards, orange-tree scents, warm family hospitality, and a proper obsession with food and local wine. Serious but never stuffy.
Book the Grand Suite Vinarium if you want both an Etna view from your bedroom window and a private pool indoors.
Why It Matters
One of the only genuine baroque castle-hotels in eastern Sicily, still family-owned after 335+ years. No standard rooms exist — every guest gets a suite. The restaurant garden produces much of what Chef Bonaccorso cooks, and the wine cellar leans heavily into Etna volcanic wines. Member of Teritoria and recognised as a Table Remarquable.
A Baroque castle built in 1689 by Prince Gravina Cruyllas on Sicily's Ionian coast, still run today by the Murabito family. Thirty-one suites spread across the original castle and surrounding garden buildings — nothing is smaller than a junior suite. The whole property sits about 50 metres from the sea, with Etna looming on one side and Taormina just 25 minutes north.

How you'll actually spend your days.
Hotel bikes are available for guests to explore the surrounding area, coastline, or nearby orange and lemon groves.
The castle maintains an organic regenerative garden tended by Sarjo, who cultivates vegetables using methods handed down over centuries. Produces much of what the restaurant cooks. Visits available by arrangement.
The hotel's own beach club sits just 50 metres from the property. 70 stations with African-reed parasols (100% UV-blocking), spaced well apart for privacy. Elegant solariums, gazebo, changing rooms, and a snack bar on a panoramic terrace. Open 9:00–18:00, June 15 to September 15. Also accessible to non-guests.
On-site tennis court available for guests.
The castle grounds, park, fountains, towers, and pool terrace are available for weddings, galas, and private events. The property manages its own events in-house.
Evening aperitivo and wine tasting in the 19th-century palmento. Focus on Etna volcanic wines, Sicilian grappas, malvasie and passiti. The cellar holds 300+ labels.
Wine tours on the slopes of Etna are available nearby — the hotel's positioning between Taormina and Catania makes it an ideal base for Etna wine country day trips.
