Castelfalfi
Contemporary luxury meets medieval Tuscan heritage. No fussiness, no chintz — the design is clean and calm, letting the landscape do the heavy lifting. The vibe is slow, unhurried, and genuinely estate-like rather than hotel-like.

Why It Matters
Two Michelin Keys (2025), Condé Nast Traveler Gold List 2026, and Travel + Leisure World's Best Awards 2025 winner for Italy. The first European outpost of Thai wellness brand RAKxa launched here in spring 2024. Owned by Indian billionaire Sri Prakash Lohia, the estate is CasaClima certified, nearly self-sufficient in water, and runs an active organic farm with 62 acres of vineyards and 10,000 olive trees.
Castelfalfi is less a hotel and more an entire world. Set on a 2,700-acre estate in the hills between Florence, Pisa, and Siena, it wraps a fully operational medieval village around a contemporary five-star hotel with 146 rooms, six restaurants, a Thai-branded spa, and a 27-hole golf course. The main building is sleek, modern, and deliberately understated — walls finished in warm Tuscan tones, marble bathrooms, floor-to-ceiling windows aimed at the rolling countryside. The old tobacco warehouse across the road gives you timber beams and more traditional character. And above it all, the actual medieval castle still sits on its rocky spur.
