Book a Studio Suite Lake View for floor-to-ceiling lake panoramas; the ground-floor units (103, 106) have direct garden/pool access

Why It Matters

One of the very few genuinely contemporary, minimalist boutique hotels on Lake Como. Listed in the Michelin Guide. Fully eco-certified: solar and photovoltaic power, underfloor heating and cooling, zero plastic bottles, two Tesla EV chargers on site. The affiliated Da Giovannino restaurant has been in the Michelin Red Guide since 1956.

Casa sull'Albero means 'treehouse,' and the name earns its keep. The whole structure is built from glass and reclaimed local wood, set inside a 3,000 sq m park of centuries-old trees on the Lecco arm of Lake Como. Thirteen rooms across what feels far more like a private villa than a hotel — no grand lobbies, no formal check-in theater, just clean Italian design, a self-serve Honesty Kitchen stocked around the clock with local wines and snacks, a stone outdoor pool, and a personal spa module. Founder Fabio Dadati calls the ethos 'shibumi': the elegance of discreet beauty. It shows.

Room Garden View

Three rooms spread across first and second floors (201, 203, 301) looking out onto the park canopy, with glimpses of the Lecco mountains through the trees. All have queen-size beds. The entry-level category here, but the design is identical: reclaimed wood, parquet floors, travertine marble bathrooms, and the same Rivolta Carmignani linen quality. Quieter orientation than the lake-facing rooms.

Room Lake View

Four lake-view rooms across ground, first, and second floors (105, 202, 204, 302). Room 105 is ground floor with direct garden access. Room 202 is first floor with a private terrace — the most requested configuration for couples. Rooms 202 and 302 have queen-size beds; 105 and 204 have king-size. All feature the same minimalist design language: parquet floors, natural wood, travertine marble bathrooms. Smaller than the suites but still smartly appointed.

Studio Suite Garden View

Three ground-floor suites (101, 102) and one first-floor unit (104) looking directly into the ancient park. The glass walls frame the centuries-old trees and mountain silhouettes rather than the open lake — quieter and more sheltered. All have king-size beds and direct garden access. The same high-quality fit-out as the lake-view suites: travertine marble bathrooms, Rivolta Carmignani linens, underfloor heating.

Studio Suite Lake View

The top pick here. Floor-to-ceiling glass walls frame Lake Como and the surrounding mountains so directly it feels like the lake is in the room with you. Three units available: rooms 103 and 106 are ground floor with direct garden access; room 205 is on the first floor. All have king-size beds. Ground-floor units can also accommodate a cot. Furnishings are warm minimalist Italian design using reclaimed local wood, with travertine marble bathrooms stocked with OEKO-TEX certified Rivolta Carmignani robes and slippers.
