Why It Matters
A functioning art hotel where original works by Franco Botticelli, Marco Paoli, and Guido Cozzi hang in the rooms — and can be bought. Located in the same palazzo where poets Elizabeth Barrett Browning and Robert Browning lived during their Florentine years. Selected by both Tablet Hotels and the Michelin Guide. On Piazza San Felice steps from Palazzo Pitti.
Casa Botticelli in San Felice sits on the first floor of a 15th-century palazzo in the Oltrarno's Santo Spirito district — the neighborhood Lonely Planet once called the coolest in the world. It's barely a hotel, really: nine rooms run by the Botticelli family, second-generation art dealers who turned their actual home into a place to stay. Every room is different, every wall has something on it worth stopping to look at, and most pieces are for sale. The Michelin Guide calls it 'a well-crafted, fully realized, tiny little gem of a hotel — it's almost too good to be true.'

On Property
How you'll actually spend your days.
Owner Eleonora Botticelli, staff member Roberta, and art specialist Giacomo offer personalized recommendations for restaurants, bars, hidden local spots, exhibitions, antique routes, and boutiques in the Oltrarno. They can organize tailor-made itineraries covering museums, landmarks, and lesser-known corners of the city. Concierge desk open daily 8am–5pm.
Works of art — paintings, sculptures, antiques, and photographs — are displayed throughout the hotel's rooms and common areas, and most pieces are available for purchase. This is an extension of the Botticelli family's multi-generational role as art dealers. Franco Botticelli's paintings, Marco Paoli and Guido Cozzi's photography are featured prominently in the suites.
The family's original art gallery and atelier is located in Via Maggio — the historic street of antique dealers just minutes from the hotel. Open since the first Florentine Antiques Biennial, it carries works spanning the 15th century through contemporary art. Guests are welcome to visit.
