The real Cannúa experience. Eight standalone free-standing cabañas are scattered across the forested hillside, and getting to some of them involves a genuine uphill hike. But once inside, the widescreen wraparound windows make you feel like you're suspended above the valley in a private spacecraft. At 49 sqm there's real space to breathe. The bamboo ceiling is spectacular. Hammock in the hanging chair at sunset with the forest frog chorus starting up — that's the one. Sleeps up to 3. Note: reaching higher-elevation cabañas requires daily climbing at altitude.

A step up in space at 28 sqm, with a king bed and the same sweeping valley views through floor-to-ceiling windows. The entry-level option at Cannúa, and still nothing to complain about. At 20 sqm it's compact, but every room looks out through large windows over the San Nicolás Valley. Expect exposed earthen bricks, reclaimed wood finishes, and handmade lamps. Colombia is the world's most species-rich country for birds, and the cloud forest around Cannúa is excellent territory. The lodge provides a wildlife guidebook for self-guided spotting, with guided birdwatching sessions also available. Species like emerald toucanets, Andean motmots, and others regularly spotted on property.
A 4–5 hour workshop excursion to El Carmen de Viboral, home to Colombia's most famous hand-painted ceramics. Guests can participate in the making process directly.
A full-day guided trip to the colorful town of Guatapé and the famous El Peñón de Guatapé — a 650-million-year-old rock with a 708-step staircase up the near-vertical face. Lodge arranges transport and recommendations. 5–8 hours, book 1 day in advance.
Exclusive access to a local export flower farm where guests see the entire cultivation and preparation process up close. 6–8 hours, must book 2 days in advance.
A guided session on Colombian vegan chocolate — its history, its connection to the Colombian peace process, and the full sensory experience of real cacao. Available daily 9am–6:30pm, runs 1–2 hours.

A 4–5 hour excursion to the nearby Cocorná Valley, where guests fly tandem over waterfalls, farmland, and dense forest before landing in the town of Cocorná. One of the most dramatic activities available from the lodge. Weather dependent; book 2 days in advance. Available daily 11am–4pm.
A guided tour through Cannúa's permaculture spaces led by the owners or expert staff. Covers sustainable building practices, the golden ratio architecture, water reuse systems, edible garden plants, and the lodge's mission to restore the mountain ecosystem. One of the most popular on-property experiences — owners Brian and Santiago are particularly praised for their knowledge and passion.
The headline excursion at Cannúa. A 15km guided hike across the Andean mountain along a trail first established by pre-Hispanic indigenous people. Includes encounters with local fruit farmers, native wildlife, lunch with a traditional Colombian picnic, and a swim near a 210-foot waterfall. 5–7 hours. Available daily from 9am, book 24 hours in advance.
A guided 1–2 hour walk along natural trails at dusk. Guests discover what sounds and wildlife emerge as the light changes — frogs, birds, and on lucky nights, howler monkeys. Ends with a view of the valley as the stars come out. Available daily at 4pm. One of the most recommended activities by returning guests.
