Camptown Catskills
Retro-rustic meets modern design. Mid-century furnishings, plaid fabrics, knotty pine walls, brass fixtures, and curated book selections in every room. Feels like an art director's idea of the perfect Catskills motor lodge — without the kitsch.

Why It Matters
Opened in March 2023 by Ray Pirkle and Kim Bucci (same team behind Rivertown Lodge in Hudson), Camptown hit the design and food scene simultaneously. Chef Efrén Hernández's Casa Susanna has been a James Beard Award Semifinalist three consecutive years (2024, 2025, 2026), which is rare for a hotel restaurant in the region. Food & Wine named it one of the Top 10 US Hotels for Food and Drink.
Camptown is a 1930s roadside motor lodge turned thoughtfully designed boutique retreat on 22 wooded acres in Leeds, NY — about 2.5 hours north of Manhattan. The nearly century-old lodge bones have been preserved but refinished in a style that mixes Shaker simplicity, modernism, and rustic edge. It splits into two distinct lodging experiences: 24 hotel rooms inside the original motel building and 26 standalone log cabins scattered across the property, no two of them identical.

How you'll actually spend your days.
An outdoor sculpture park that doubles as a cross-country skiing venue in winter. About 20 minutes from Camptown in Ghent, NY.
Fire pits and grills are available for guest use on the grounds. Stock up from the 24-hour honesty pantry with local meats and produce and cook out under the stars.
Camptown can accommodate groups of 2–200 for weddings, rehearsal dinners, corporate retreats, and curated events. The Meadow event space is available for private bookings.
The centerpiece of Camptown's summer scene. Retro striped parasols, sunloungers, rattan armchairs, and a waterbed cabana. Adult swim 6–8pm daily for a quieter dip. Open every day May 15–October 1, 10am–8pm.
A retro drive-in movie theatre a short drive from the property.
Kaaterskill Falls, one of the tallest tiered waterfalls in the Northeast, is a short drive away. In winter the frozen falls are a serious draw. Multiple hiking trails accessible from the area.
An outdoor sauna ideal for warming up after skiing or a cold-weather hike. Robes available from the front desk.
Both Windham Mountain and Hunter Mountain ski areas are roughly 25–30 miles west. Staff can point you in the right direction. A go-to use case for winter bookings.
