Roma
Italian ultra-luxury, art-meets-jewelry aesthetic. Restrained and composed, not showy. The building's rationalist bones stay visible; the Bvlgari layer lands on top with colored Mediterranean marble, Made-in-Italy furnishings, and Murano glass details at every turn. The overall effect is monumental but never cold.
The Bvlgari Bar and Il Caffè are open to non-guests — walk in for an aperitivo even without a room reservation
Why It Matters
Awarded Best Hotel in the World by Virtuoso Travel in 2024. First Bvlgari property in the brand's actual hometown. The Bvlgari Suite's bathtub is carved from a single block of arabesque Corchia marble, inspired by the Baths of Caracalla. The spa's pool tiles are by Bisazza. The property features Italy's first Bvlgari Dolci chocolatier and patisserie. Il Ristorante is run by three-Michelin-star chef Niko Romito.
Bvlgari's homecoming. The jeweler opened its ninth global property in June 2023, claiming a rationalist 1930s building — built between 1936 and 1938 by architect Vittorio Ballio Morpurgo — right on the Piazza Augusto Imperatore, steps from the actual Mausoleum of Augustus. Interiors are the work of ACPV ARCHITECTS Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel, the firm behind every Bvlgari hotel, and they've turned the building into something that feels simultaneously Roman and unmistakably Bvlgari: imperial marble, colored gemstone-inspired palettes, mosaic roundels, and Bisazza pool tiles drawn from the Baths of Caracalla. This is ultra-luxury done with archaeological conviction.
