Bungalows & Casitas de las Flores
Bohemian Italian-Mexican — think Portofino-meets-Jalisco. Bold paint colors, thatched roofs, Mediterranean arches. The community draws artists, yogis, designers, and polo players. Fiestas happen. Turtles nest on the beach. It's upscale, but not stuffy.
The bungalows are directly on Playa Rosa and get Playa Rosa Restaurant room service — the casitas are a 5-minute walk uphill
Why It Matters
Careyes is one of the most architecturally distinctive private resort communities in the world — a 35,000-acre biosphere with polo clubs, sea turtle sanctuaries, clifftop villas, and a thriving arts scene. The casitas and bungalows are the most accessible way in, and they come with concierge access to the whole territory.
Costa Careyes is a one-of-a-kind private enclave on Mexico's Pacific Costalegre coast, about 1 hour 15 minutes north of Manzanillo airport. Founded in 1968 by Italian financier Gian Franco Brignone, it sits on 35,000 acres of protected reserve with nine miles of Pacific coastline — and only 2% of it is developed. The Bungalows & Casitas de las Flores are the entry point into this community: colorful, fully-equipped casitas tumbling down a hillside above Playa Rosa, and three newly renovated beachfront bungalows steps from the sand.
