Brown's Avenue is the flagship of the four-hotel Brown's Hotel Group, and the only one that sits apart from the others — just off Avenida da Liberdade rather than down in Baixa. Completed in 2022 on the site of ancient Roman ruins, the 44-room adults-only hotel splits across a contemporary building and a restored historic one, with parquet floors, travertine stone, velvet accents, and brass objects tying it together. Lisbon's grand boulevard of luxury fashion houses is a 2-minute walk from the hotel. The hotel is also connected to a nearby shopping centre. Easy walking distance to Alfama, São Jorge Castle, Rossio, and the botanical garden.
When the hotel was built, Roman artefacts were unearthed on site. Rather than burying them again, a small on-site museum was created to display the finds. It is a genuinely unusual feature for a boutique hotel and easy to miss — ask the front desk about access.
