Why It Matters
This is the building where David Bowie married Angie in 1970. It sat derelict on the Heritage at Risk register for over a decade before a full £20m restoration brought it back as a multi-use destination. Brama is the only boutique hotel in Bromley and the hotel element of a genuinely impressive adaptive reuse project.
Bromley's first boutique hotel, and the final piece of a £20m restoration of the Grade II-listed Bromley Old Town Hall — a building that opened in 1907, once sheltered Londoners from nuclear fallout, and hosted David Bowie's 1970 wedding to Angie. The 23-room hotel shares the landmark building with Clockwise co-working and all-day restaurant Dorothy & Marshall. Interiors nod to the original Art Deco era with neutral palettes, bold green-tiled bathrooms, and preserved original wood paneling, stained glass, and soaring ceilings — while keeping everything properly modern.
